Characteristics And Classification Of Wind Power Generation Cables

Wind power generation cables are essential components for the power transmission of wind turbines, and their safety and reliability directly determine the operational lifespan of wind power generators. In China, most wind power farms are located in low-population-density areas such as coastlines, mountains, or deserts. These special environments impose higher requirements on the performance of wind power generation cables.

I. Characteristics of Wind Power Cables

Wind power generation cables must possess excellent insulation performance to resist attacks from factors like sand and salt spray.
Cables need to demonstrate resistance to aging and UV radiation, and in high-altitude regions, they should have a sufficient creepage distance.
They should exhibit exceptional weather resistance, capable of withstanding high and low temperatures and the cable’s own thermal expansion and contraction. The operating temperature of cable conductors should be able to withstand day-night temperature variations.
They must have good resistance to twisting and bending.
The cables should have excellent waterproof sealing, resistance to oil, chemical corrosion, and flame retardancy.

II. Classification of Wind Power Cables

Wind Turbine Twisting Resistance Power Cables
These are suitable for wind turbine tower installations, with a rated voltage of 0.6/1KV, designed for hanging twisting situations, and used for power transmission.
Wind Turbine Power Cables
Designed for wind turbine nacelles, with a rated voltage of 0.6/1KV system, used for fixed power transmission lines.
Wind Turbine Twisting Resistance Control Cables
Designed for wind turbine tower installations, with a rated voltage of 450/750V and below for control systems, suitable for hanging twisting situations. Used for control, monitoring circuits, or protective circuit control signal transmission.
Wind Turbine Shielded Control Cables
Used for electronic computers and instrument control systems inside wind turbine towers.
Wind Turbine Fieldbus Cables
Designed for internal and on-site bus control systems in wind turbine nacelles, transmitting bidirectional, serial, fully digital automated control signals.
Wind Turbine Grounding Cables
Used for wind turbine rated voltage 0.6/1KV systems, serving as grounding cables.
Wind Turbine Shielded Data Transmission Cables
Used for electronic computers and instrument control systems inside wind turbine nacelles, where resistance to external electromagnetic field interference is required. These cables transmit control, detection, supervision, alarm, interlocking, and other signals.
