What Is The Difference Between GFRP And KFRP For Optical Fiber Cable Strengthening Core?

GFRP, glass fiber reinforced plastic, is a non-metallic material with smooth surface and uniform outer diameter obtained by coating the surface of multiple strands of glass fiber with light-curing resin. GFRP is often used as a central strength member for outdoor optical cable, and now more and more leather line cable are used.
In addition to using GFRP as a strength member, the leather line cable can also use KFRP as a strength member. What is the difference between the two?

About GFRP

1.Low density, high strength
The relative density of GFRP is between 1.5 and 2.0, which is only 1/4 to 1/5 of that of carbon steel, but the tensile strength of GFRP is close to or even exceeds that of carbon steel, and the strength of GFRP can be compared with that of high-grade alloy steel.

2.Good corrosion resistance
GFRP is a good corrosion-resistant material, and has good resistance to the atmosphere, water and general concentrations of acids, alkalis, salts, and various oils and solvents.

3.Good electrical performance
GFRP is a better insulating material and can still maintain good dielectric properties at high frequencies.

4.Good thermal performance
GFRP has low thermal conductivity, only 1/100~1/1000 of metal at room temperature.

5.Better craftsmanship
The molding process can be flexibly selected according to the shape, requirements, use and quantity of the product.

The process is simple and the economic effect is outstanding, especially for products with complex shapes that are not easy to be formed, its craftsmanship is more prominent.

About KFRP

KFRP is the abbreviation of aramid fiber reinforced plastic rod. It is a non-metallic material with smooth surface and uniform outer diameter, which is obtained by coating the surface of aramid yarn with light-curing resin. It is widely used in access network.

1.Low density, high strength
KFRP has low density and high strength, and its strength and specific modulus are far more than steel wire and GFRP.

2.Low expansion
The linear expansion coefficient of KFRP is smaller than that of steel wire and GFRP in a wide temperature range.

3.Impact resistance, break resistance
KFRP is impact-resistant and fracture-resistant, and can still maintain a tensile strength of about 1300MPa even in the case of fracture.

4.Good flexibility
KFRP is soft and easy to bend, that makes the indoor optical cable has a compact, beautiful structure and excellent bending performance, and is especially suitable for wiring in a complex indoor environment.

From the cost analysis, the cost of GFRP is more advantageous.
The customer can determine which material to use according to the specific use requirements and cost comprehensive consideration.
